2. What the clock processes
Our clock runs in your browser and uses device time and the device time zone. Your selected language and time zone are used locally to display the time and date. We do not query an external time service. There are no user accounts or custom application backend. The application does not transmit your clock or display preferences to us.
We do not embed advertising scripts, browser-side analytics, tracking pixels or externally loaded fonts. This is separate from technical access data required when loading the website. “No tracking” therefore does not mean that visiting the website involves no processing of personal data.
3. Hosting and technical server logs
Our hosting provider is 1blu GmbH, Riedemannweg 60, 13627 Berlin, Germany. According to 1blu’s published information, all 1blu server systems are located in its data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Provider information: Legal notice · Server location.
We run our website on an Ubuntu virtual server managed through Plesk. When you visit, the web server receives your IP address and technical information from the HTTP request so it can deliver the requested content.
Depending on configuration, server logs may contain IP address, time, requested address including URL parameters, response status, transferred data volume and browser-supplied information about the browser, operating system and referring page.
The legal basis for technically necessary delivery and proportionate stability, troubleshooting and security measures is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is secure and reliable operation of the service. Logging scope and duration must be limited to what is necessary for those purposes. Transmitting connection data required for a request is technically necessary; without it, the website cannot be delivered.
We rotate website logs daily and retain up to 30 rotated files per log type in addition to the file currently being written. Older files are automatically deleted during rotation. With regular daily rotation, this corresponds to approximately 30 to 31 days of retention. We do not create backup copies of these website logs or send them by email.
Web statistics are disabled. We do not generate GoAccess visitor statistics.
4. Local browser preferences
Only if you enable “Remember settings on this device” in the settings menu does the clock save preferences in your browser’s local storage. This option is disabled by default. Enabling it makes your preferences available on later visits. The application uses no cookies for this and assigns no tracking identifier.
jacktools.clock.storage-consent.v1: records your enabled storage choice. Disabling storage deletes this choice and the saved preferences.jacktools.clock.settings.v1: Clock view, date appearance and format, time format, 12/24-hour display, time zone, seconds, numerals, smooth second hand and keep-screen-awake preference.jacktools.clock.appearance.v1: Language, light/dark mode, colour palette, visual style and font size.
Data remains until you delete it under “Local settings”, clear it in your browser or the browser removes it. After deletion, storage is disabled and must explicitly be enabled again. If browser storage is blocked, the clock remains usable for the current visit.
Optional persistent storage is based on your consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG and, where personal data is involved, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can disable it in the settings menu or delete saved preferences under “Local settings” at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier storage. The clock works without enabling storage; changes then last only on the current page. An existing storage choice is read to respect your selection. Older preferences without this choice are not used for restoration.
If you enable “Keep screen awake”, our clock uses the browser’s Screen Wake Lock feature while the page is visible. This feature itself sends no additional data to us or external services.
5. Contacting us
If you email or call us, we process the contact information and content you provide to handle your request. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contract-related requests, otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our interest in responding. We retain data only as long as handling the request, legitimate evidentiary purposes or statutory retention duties require.
We use Gmail for email communication. Messages sent to our published Gmail address are processed by this email service.
6. Support and external links
Buy Me a Coffee, MessageDrop and JackTools.Net are reached through ordinary links. No payment widgets, analytics or content from those services are embedded in the clock. A connection to the linked service occurs when you open the link; its own privacy notice then applies. Our links send no referrer and contain no tracking parameters.
The clock itself collects no payment details. If you support us through Buy Me a Coffee, that service processes the data needed for payment.
7. Your rights
Subject to statutory conditions, you have rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) and portability (Article 20). Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time for the future without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Right to object: for processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object under Article 21 on grounds relating to your particular situation. We then stop processing unless demonstrated compelling legitimate grounds override your interests or processing is required to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
You may also complain to a data protection authority, particularly where you normally live, work or where an alleged infringement occurred (Article 77 GDPR). One contact point is the Data Protection Commissioner for Lower Saxony.
The clock application makes no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects and creates no advertising profiles.
